That A concourse is just over 1000 feet long. Good grief, why is everyone crying? It has moving walkways. You don't even have to walk it. 
the new south concourse in PHX terminal 3 is also over 1000 feet long and it has no moving walkways. Nobody's crying about it. 
Ever have a connection in PHX on American? From the high As to the high Bs is over half a mile. Even with moving sidewalks it's a 15 minute hike. 
Try bucking up and living the 21st century boys. SLC is growing and the new port has to accommodate today's volume and the loads 20 years from now. You build airports for future demand, not today's.
