We've been back and forth on how much ESPN brings in - there's data showing it's about $4.5M. I know people want it to be more, but I've just not seen anything to show that it is.
I do agree that BYU should continue to schedule multiple P5s. We've shown we can do so, I don't know why we wouldn't continue to schedule 3 OOC P5 games each year in the future. Maybe sometimes schedules only work for 2, so each year we get 2 or 3. Currently we seem to get 3-4 most years (though we're slowly improving).
As to exposure, I wasn't meaning that a Texas or Michigan fanbase get a bad impression of us or that nobody watches. I should have been more careful about how I worded that - my point was that other teams don't get invested in how good BYU is or give more than a superficial week-long interest. In the old MWC, fans of the Air Force Academy had a general idea of how good BYU was, both in general and in any specific year. They knew the team. When we don't have those same connections, the opponents and fanbases only get fleeting exposure to us, which I personally don't think is as helpful. That's obviously a matter of opinion which is better though - broad, but shallow exposure or narrower, but deeper.
