It was years ago, can't remember his name but he was on the byu track team and was a thrower (javelin, hammer, shot discus) who stayed in the US and joined the church. Back in the day, byu used to recruit a number of Scandinavians for track.
I remember in the early 80s wandering thought the weight room in the Smith Field House and seeing these enormous blond-haired guys throwing weights around, speaking in a language I didn't understand with a lot of laughing.
He said that Europe was years ahead in steroid usage compared to the US and that he and many of his euro friends used stroids and that even after he quit there were long term performance benefits from having used them. Thinking this was late 60s to early 70s that he competed.
