The same general logic defending MLMs is the same logic employed by the defenders of liquor, tobacco, and pornography: a refusal to honestly look at the facts and costs of the industry they participate in.

I empathize with those drawn to MLMs. Too often they are acting in desperation due in no small part to the stresses and insecurities of a ruthlessly competitive society. But those at the top of MLMs are the same as tobacco executives, they know full well what they are doing.
