First off, the jazz have never tried to trade Rudy so it’s really unknown how much assets they could get for him? He’s an all NBA defensive player so I’m thinking they actually could get quite a bit of assets if they wanted to trade him but they do not.

Secondly, even given that he is primarily a defensive player, his offense efficiency is close to the top in the NBA. Why would you not want a player who is offensively efficient on your team, especially when you have a couple who are not? Rudy has the highest dunk rate in the NBA which is a really valuable skill because it makes the other team put a defender at the rim which opens up the wings and the corners for the shooters and also driving lanes for guys like Mitchell. And he is near the top in screen assists in the league. And of course he is one of the top rebounders in the league which helps with stops to set up the offense. And he plays hard. What’s not to love with his game? He’s basically the jazz version of Dennis Rodman but even better defensively and offensively.

If rudy tried to develop a jump shot or more post moves it only be detrimental because he wouldn’t be very efficient at them. And he would take away shots from the scorers and shooters that the jazz have. The jazz do not need more shooting from Rudy; they only need him to continue to be a dominant defense of player and a highly efficient player at the rim.


I just can’t believe it there’s so many jazz fans that undervalue his worth to the team. We already have a scorer in Mitchell and several shooters. the Jazz are not that far off being a top5 team in the league in a few years. The fact is is there is just a lot of dominant players in the NBA at the top of the league and some of those guys are aging and hopefully that will open an opportunity for the jazz in a few years.
