I also think it’s fine to recognize and even celebrate just how much Utah lost by falling flat in their CCG. At the end of the season they ended up about where BYU ended up. Playing in a minor bowl game against an unranked opponent when they had the opportunity to play for a conf championship, playoff game, rose bowl, top ranking, etc. they didn’t even make a NY6 and all of that was on the table.
Had they come through, we would have had to endure twice as much as when they won the sugar bowl in 2008. As it stands now, when it comes to actual accomplishments, Utah’s membership in the p12 hasn’t earned them any advantages (as far as access goes) over BYU. The fact that they have come so close many years and fallen flat on their face so consistently in November....you can’t help but laugh.
And for the sake of recruiting and survival, you can’t help but take a sigh of relief.
