If your wife is “panicking,” that’s a huge warning sign. Tread carefully.
Not sure what your situation is, but suspect she’s going to be spending a lot more time at home with YOUR parents, and even with the best of relationships, that’s a challenge. If you think she’s likely to also dislike the potential friends she’d find in the neighborhood, that’s even more disconcerting. Sounds like a recipe for misery.

I wouldn’t move in with my mom unless it was my wife’s idea. And even then, I’d check about 5 million times to make sure it was really what she wanted.
