As a know-nothing investor in the market for the past 20 years, I can tell you
that sometimes boring is a lot better than exciting crashes.
I've done a fair amount of investing, and a more "speculating" than I wish I had. Several years of very exciting growth. But it only took a couple of years of very exciting losses to convince me that boring isn't as bad as some of the alternatives.
