You will spend A LOT of time driving. A LOT.
But the Big Island is our favorite. Going again in a month.
Night Manta Rays are a must.
Flumin Kohala is a lot of fun.
June 8th is the King Kamehameha parade in Hawi (Flumin Kohala is here also. It's a fun parade but get there EARLY, trafic gets bad after 9 am.
Kona side is best.
Absolutely get "Hawaii Revealed" - soon to study before you go and a reference when you're there.
The road to the sea is a blast, but a 4x4 is a must.
Waipio Valley (again must have 4x4 to drive down into the valley) is very cool. Pack a lunch and have it on the beach. Don't swim there though, NOT a swimming beach.
