Consistency isn't a bad thing. We havent' had a losing season in a long, long time.
However, BYU falls way short when talking about our ceiling and ability to make and compete in the NCAA tournament....which is the biggest criticism of Dave Rose...let alone actually compete for the WCC championship (regular season or tournament)...
As has been stated in this thread, BYU has the fan support and resources to consistently finish second in the WCC and actually fight for the WCC championship with Gonzaga, at least occasionally. BYU should be a shoe-in for the NCAA tournament in at least 1 in 3 seasons, and should at least be a bubble team most of the rest of the time.
We should have the type of program that just doesn't lose to the likes of Weber State or Illinois State, even if on the road. And, we have the type of athletics program and fan support that should never see mediocre football and basketball in the same year.
We were completely outmatched against Gonzaga. But that was expected. This team can still finish strong, but it will need to virtually run the table (minus the game in Spokane) to make up for the team's lackluster performance in December.
