To be clear, can you tell me if this helps if the
taxes owed are over $30k every year?

I don't do great planning for my taxes, and though my taxes owed is usually about $30k, I still get a refund because of charitable donations and we have 8 kids.

Why do you say "If the sum of the two numbers (taxes paid and mortgage interest paid) is significantly below $24,000, but near or above $12,700"

If this is too complicated I guess it's worth while talking to a tax guy. Thanks for the advice.
