This is in response to Chow's comments.
All athletic departments report data on their salaries to the department of education each year. Here's the latest data available. They only have to report the TOTAL they spend on assistant coaches for ALL mens teams. So this is not only for football.
TOTAL SALARIES FOR ALL MEN'S TEAM ASSISTANT COACHES:
BYU: $2,889,054
Hawaii: $1,889,200
So BYU spends a million dollars more on men's assistant coach salaries than hawaii. This is official department of education data. Chow is ill-informed. Of course we don't know the specific salaries by team, but I'm guessing it's not the other sports eating up that $1 million. Got to be football.
For reference though, BYU should be paying more for their assistant coaches. They spend about a million less than schools like UCF despite having far greater revenue. BYU spends about the same as Boise State.
