Tarzan's list of board games

My wife and I enjoy board games. I figured I'd list a few of my favorites, things I like about them for others that might want to get into it.

Favorites:

Ticket to Ride: Collect destination tickets and build your trains across the US.  This game is called a "gateway game" because it leads you down the enlightening and enjoyable path of board games. I highly suggest buying an expansion pack for this game. A few times through, and you can already tell where your opponents are headed because there aren't many destination tickets in the original board game. https://goo.gl/Kmo6SK

Lords of Vegas: Dice rolling game that requires you to build hotels along the strip.  Be careful - as other players can come in and become the "pit boss" and steal your hotel from right underneath you. Great game that involves some strategy and luck.  You have to get out of the gate fast in order to have a chance in the long run. https://goo.gl/xPd2xe

Eldritch Horror: Be investigators that travel the world battling monsters and closing gates to the other worlds.  This game is a long play (4+ hours) and has several expansion packs to keep things fresh. This is a really enjoyable game with a lot of depth.  However, the amount of time you need to put into playing this game might deter players looking for a quicker game. https://goo.gl/pLMJmq

Libertalia: Pick which of your shipmates you'd like to battle against others in this pirate-themed card game.  Each player starts with the same amount of cards, but as the rounds go on - your hands get a bit more varied.  Make sure you are gaining bounty, and your characters aren't being killed off by other players.  https://goo.gl/4L5m8d

Elder Sign: Explore a museum with haunted rooms, and defeat prevent the Ancient One's arrival.  Co-Op dice game that takes all players to win. https://goo.gl/r3Y3x7

Wish List:

Diplomacy: Form and break alliances, outplay your opponents in this game set in pre-WWI Europe.  This game has been joking labeled a "marriage-killer"... which is why my wife won't let us play it.  https://goo.gl/WLYtq6

Stone Age: Move your civilization forward in this game.  Send workers out to hunt for food, make little-cavemen, and gather resources in order to propel your civilization past your opponents.  https://goo.gl/GZ6PVk

Roll for It: Family game that is similar to Yahtzee.  Quick and easy for young kids to pick up, but enough strategy to keep older people involved as well.  https://goo.gl/yEgFOL

Patchwork: One of the most popular games for 2 players out there.  Has a 5-star review on Amazon with 258 reviews.  https://goo.gl/eLHbmO

Wil Wheaton's TableTop

Check out Wil Wheaton's (shut up Wesley...) YouTube series called TableTop. He invites celebrities on to play board games, and to teach you how to play.  While they don't always have the cleanest language, it is mostly edited out.  I enjoy watching all of the episodes, even if I don't think that I'll enjoy playing the game myself.  I highly suggest it.
