beside the point. I don't care to defend Howell, but you're logic on player experience is silly and muddies the credibility of your objectivity. I don't care how many D1 coaches did or didn't play D1 ball. There are multitude of reasons why this is the case aside from the argument you pose..... that it's necessary. Every coaching profession proves otherwise.
Second, if my kid is complaining because his coach is "mean" or doesn't "praise" him I'd tell him to grow a pair or hand him a barbie doll and tell him to find a new hobby. If he won't respect a coach or listen to a coach because he didn't play D1 ball it's an attitude problem with the kid and should hang up his cleats. Unless he's a freak of nature, a kid like that will most likely not make it at the next level. Always looking for someone else to blame. Pathetic.
