Nothing could be further from the truth. Of the original 12 Dow components in 1896, all, except one, have either been acquired, merged, sold off or gone out of business. The only surviving member is GE, and it was removed from the Dow twice over the years.

Apple is good now, but can they keep it going? This is a very competitive industry with quickly changing technology and tastes. Remember they were struggling in the early 90's.
