I'm a born and raised Utahn. There are many things I love about Utah. The accent isn't one of them...
And I'm not talking about "Moun-an", which everyone complains about. Most people around the country say it this way anyway.
I'm talking about the "Mush" mouth, the speaking slow, the turning words with one S into a sh sound. (Monshter books) for those of you outside of Utah that's Monster Bucks, when referring to a big deer.
Here are others that bother me... I'll provide the translation.
- Mayz yur= measure
- pellow= pillow
- Melk = milk
- Ceh key= cookie
- I like eeem= I like him
- Eees a good goy= He's a good guy
- San weech= Sandwich
- Man Yur ism= mannerism
... Among many more. My mom and her side of the family have it bad. Thank goodness I don't.
