As someone who has never drank alcohol, can anybody explain one thing to me
Why is there such a fervent veneration for high-end alcoholic beverages? Particularly wine? It borders on religious observance for some people.

People will make it a core personality trait. They will build entire rooms just for wine. Build expensive home bars to prepare cocktails and spirits. Depictions of wine will permeate all their home decor.

It’s literally just a drink, isn’t it? I mean, for as much as mormons like their flavored diet soda, I don’t see soda imagery on their throw pillows…

Why is alcohol consumption such a significant factor in people’s lives?
