Nick Nash (San Jose State) is the only receiver that had more TDs than Hunter
and is one of only 5 that had more yards. And it's not like Nash had way better stats. They were better, but not by much. And Nash played garbage defenses this year. He wasn't facing corners and safeties anywhere near as good as what Hunter was facing.
So let's be very objective and honest. If you were given a chance to draft either of those two players as a wide receiver, which would you choose? For me it's Hunter and it's not even close. Hunter is a much better receiver than Nash. So Hunter was arguably the best wr in the country with his 1,152 yards receiving and 14 touchdown catches.
