This is common with Traegers. If you don't remove the drippings regularly . .
they will catch fire when you turn the temperature high and the entire grille will burn. It happened to my Traeger, but it still works, despite the coating on half the grille having burned off. Now, my auger doesn't work well and I can't get the heat above $225. Admittedly, I've had my Traeger for 10+ years.

I'm going to splurge and pay the $4,000 to buy a Yoder. I simply like to cook meat too much and don't want to have any problems.
