My understanding is that Bronco had some pretty strong critics among boosters & some in the department, though. Much of it regarding recruiting. But also the coaching quality of his staff.

Yes, the AD herself was apparently very surprised Bronco was unwilling to work with her & so easily filed his resignation.

Personally, I think part of if was he was upset & felt responsible with how badly the season turned out.

Also, the staff demands weren't just about Nick Howell (if it even involved him — I don't recall). There were specific people financiers & others wanted brought in, though. People I did not busy myself in figuring what they represented in terms of expertise or connectiveness w UVA. It wasn't the sorta hot story that swirled around very long, after all. I cared to look only because of Bronco; I couldn't care less about UVA football.
