the committee seems to base everything on how a team performs in relation to the top SEC and Big Ten teams (i.e. Boise getting tons of mileage out of a close loss to Oregon; Notre Dame getting tons of mileage out of a Texas A&M win, SEC teams not getting punished for losses because they are also beating each other, etc.). Had BYU swapped out a W over Wyoming for a 4 point loss to, say, Oregon, I am convinced they would be ranked higher at 9-3 than they currently are at 10-2 - because the close loss to Oregon would be "proof" that BYU is good (because somehow a road win at a top-10 opponent in SMU isn't good enough proof).
