Kalani is 49. He will likely be at BYU now as long as he wants. Scalley is 45
and is a Utah guy through and through. If he is successful, he will be there as long as he wants.
So, would you want to stick around for a possibility that one of those jobs opens up in 4 to 5 years or would you go take the reins of a program now? If he wants to coach P4 programs, his shortest path possible that also affords him control now is to take the USU job were it to become available.
