Let's take it a step further (and admittedly a bit absurd and exaggerated)

Imagine two college football teams

One plays against Corner Canyon HS. And wins
The other plays against someone like Santaquin HS. And also wins.

Yes, the first team played a substantially tougher opponent. But it's not really a meaningful difference. And that's the way the committee views most teams outside the top 30 or so (unless they are in the SEC unfortunately)

Like I said, I have much more issues with where Texas is than where Boise is
