My whole house is full of “interesting electrical choices”
We have had more than a couple electricians through on different projects who leave with an odd look on their face. It’s not comforting.

Correct. Ignites. Full fan comes on. Runs for about 45 minutes or so.

Maybe? It looks like there is a smaller motor that runs for a while before the main one kicks on.
