It could mean your furnace is has been trying to come on, but locked itself out after multiple failed attempts. If it happens again is there an error code or something?

Correct. Ignites. Full fan comes on. Runs for about 45 minutes or so.

Maybe? It looks like there is a smaller motor that runs for a while before the main one kicks on.

Yes. That one runs for 30 seconds or so every few minutes.
