In Arabic the difference between the sentence, "the books are big" and using the adjective big to describe books is only one article. The sentence "the books are big" is the article "the" and the word books and the word big without an article. Using big as an adjective to describe the books in a phrase is the article "the", the word books then the article the and the word big. So if you said He wrote the big books you would just start the sentence with the conjugated past tense verb of to read with the third person masuline pronoun conjugation, which happens to be spelled the same way as books. Ktb al-ktb al-kbiir but "the books are big" is simply al-ktb kbiir ( no verb at all)

If you think that's bad. Try parsing a sentence from Mongolian with an interrogative. Interrogatives are conjugated verbs of the verb "to how"
