Other close places are Lucca (awesome and not touristy), Pisa you just need to see the tower, Siena, and San Giminiano. If you only have a short time would just do Cinque Terre from La Spezia and/or Porto Venere. Both are way better than Florence to me unless you are really into art. Florence is great and iconic but not from favorite place in Italy
