I was a football player at Idaho State in the early 70’s. It was very difficult to try and explain why fellow black players couldn’t have the priesthood in our church. In fact, it was awful to have to deal with this. We had no idea what to say and some of the things I did tell people were very wrong. (Couldn’t hold the priesthood because they were Cain’s descendants. Couldn’t hold the priesthood because they were fence sitters in the pre-existence refusing to join sides)
I’m just glad that inspiration from President Spencer W Kimball in 1978 enabled ALL worthy male members to hold the priesthood. It was a very joyous revelation and occasion. I remember people shedding tears of joy from the announcement.
