messages, had weekly 1-on-1 with VP manager, spent time figuring out cause of NPS decrease for large healthcare company, built a dashboard analyzing survey data for large telecom, leaving today at 4pm because my 10yo son has a baseball game.
Yesterday: Took my son to Pre-K in AM, got some sod while listening to company-wide call, planted a little sod, started working around 10:30am, had 5-6 internal calls, finished around 4pm because I had to coach my 8yo daughter's soccer game.
Most mornings I'll help older kids get on the bus, then go for a bike ride, play baseball, or soccer with my 4 year old son until around 8:15, then take him to school. After I drop him off, I might go by the grocery store or do a little yard work until 9:30 or 10, then I'll start working. I'll take naps, hit golf balls off my back porch, putt on my putting green, or workout during my breaks. Don't usually work after 5pm. I'm home when my kids get home from school, but we have a sitter with them most days.
I don't know if it's a permanent situation, but I'm very happy with it for now. It would be hard for me to go back to working from an office. My wife has a pretty demanding job as faculty at a veterinary school. She submitted her tenure packet last week, she has a grant due next week, is president of a national organization within her specialty, etc. I told her recently that I almost feel like a stay at home husband, even though I work and make more money than she makes. My company isn't super well run, and I get more done than most of my co-workers, even though I could easily double my output. In my role I do something that is difficult for people to learn, but that isn't all that difficult to do day-to-day.
