Both good and bad for you depending on the trends of the time. Eggs have cycled between bad and good a solid 5-6 times in my life. I stopped paying attention to what is said and rather how I feel.
Personally, oatmeal gives me solid sustained energy, especially mixed with lots of good fresh fruit, and is my preferred pre-workout meal on a heavy cardio day. Outside of that it makes me feel a little bloated, so I stick with it as a pre cardio option for solid energy during those workouts.
