In my opinion, the problem is not the goalie.
The problem is this team scoring 2 goals on a 3 game road trip.

Vs. St. Louis BYU played great and could only put it in the back of the net once. That was a game we should have won.

Vs. LBSU, we were dominated. BYU shows its inconsistency and youth. Gardner has countless balls played to her in space and should have scored a second goal. We are lucky to play to a 1-1 tie. BYU was manhandled by Beach’s physical play.

Tonight vs. UCLA, BYU is again dominated in the first half. It could have easily been 2-0 or 3-0, but we somehow kept it at 1-0. In the second half the team that played St. Louis decided to show up. Great second half, but again unable to put it in the back of the net. Two crossers should have had a foot on it and we could have escaped with at least a tie.

Our goalie is far from perfect, but this team is young, inconsistent, and learning as they go. A scrappy 1-0 defeat tonight stings but is a positive somehow.

Our problem is an inability to finish in the final 1/3rd. Losing Walbruch and now Bailey is really tough. This team has to figure out who will be a second threat to score besides Fryer.

Let’s hope they get revenge Saturday against USU.
