We drove 15 hours to get there and I have never been so cold at an outdoor event in my life. We sat next to a fellow from Arizona. He said he and his wife left their hotel room, his wife walked four steps into the cold, said, "Unh-unh. Not happening." and went straight back into the hotel. He was there by himself. Cold concrete seats, cold concrete steps, lousy, completely uninspired performance by BYU who clearly didn't want to be there. Just a bad, bad day in general. If I never see Memphis again it will be WAY too soon.
When we were leaving for the game, the receptionist at the hotel told us the temperature outside. IIRC, it was in single digits. She looked at us pityingly and said, in her best Tennessee accent, "Ah just don't UNDUHSTAND it! It's NEVAH cold heah in Memphis except durin' the Libuhty Bowl!"
