background, the goal is to use it to drop the weight (while doing extensive lifting/cardio) to get to ideal body weight.
Typically that is a 3 months phase (catabolic phase) where its more rapid weight loss and just doing what we can not to lose to much muscle mass.
Then we try and wean off the GLP1 with the goal of maintaining the weight with exercise and better eating habits with a focus on resistance training since some muscle mass occurs with the catabolic weight loss stage.
That is another 3 months phase (anabolic phase) where its more protein/creatine/supplements with what we are trying at a lower GLP dose (or potentially no GLP1 at all)
Goal is to then have a good body weight to muscle mass ratio at an ideal weight after 6 months with then finding a good program for maintenance depending on the individual.
We've just started the programs so guess we will see how it goes. We have a group doing it now.
For the majority that can't do anything besides maybe a little walking (which is about 70% of those in traditional clinics or the elderly) then I imagine they're on it for life if they want to maintain the weight. I'm a little skeptical of this group making lifestyle changes when they can't exercise and when the weight is coming off w/ medication therapy.
