I feel you, man! Its an exciting time to be a Coug. Hard to compare KY vs Kalani. If you've read the book Outliers by Malcom Gladwell. For those who haven't, my rough depictions of the book follow, but forgive me as I read it a few years ago.

Think of the NBA (not because of KY), but consider Michael Jordan who had all the right "metrics" one would think to become the perfect basketball player. Or Bill Gates who had a 1 in 1 million chance to attend a high school in the 60s that had a computer. Canadian hockey players, the book states that those with birthdays earlier in the year might be more successful than those later in the year because of a developmental/size advantage from their youth as they engaged in sports (teams were based on age simply by birth year rather than grade like we do it in the US).

SOMETIMES success comes of being in the right place at the right time.

Kalani's pedigree vs KY's isn't something you can quite compare. Nor is the timing of NIL, Pope leaving/BYU seeking a new coach, joining the XII, cashflow, Ryan Smith and the Jazz and bringing Danny Ainge back to town, etc. There's A LOT of variables here.

I'm excited about KY and our team 9th ranked XII team (I don't mind being an underdog either). We've got the bar set high for ourselves as any team should have, but we've seen the fruits of a team motto like a "Quest for Perfection" and how making it too obvious could make cause a problem or put a target on our backs, especially as a successful season might begin to transpire.

Last thought, sounds like KY is using all the latest and greatest tech (technology [data/stats] and technique [NBA coaching/personnel/celebrity-power/drills/schemes) to maximize the efficiency/performance/output of this team (yes, we'll have to see when they actually step foot on the court). Only one part of the KY plan: the data/stats aspect sounds like some Moneyball strategizing maybe... can't quite hone in on a kid's stats sheet like this coming out of HS or as a transfer maybe, but hmmmm.
