I recently switched dentists - for the past 15 years or so, I haven’t had cavities or any notable problems…most recently seen about a year ago.
The new dentist today claims to have found a bunch of cavities, referencing spots (I have pictures of them) on my molars that have been there for years without being mentioned by any prior dentist. The cavities weren’t visible on X-ray, only based on the molar surface.
Either my new dentist is telling the truth and my prior dentists weren’t thorough (or have a different threshold for what a cavity is…) or this new dentist is trying to do unnecessary work.
Anyone have any advice on sorting that out? Is it worth a second opinion? (not sure how insurance will handle that…)
