I finally got around to making an appointment for a second opinion. The 1st dentist recommended 11 fillings, the other dentist suggested that only 1/11 “identified” by the 1st dentist actually needed a filling.
I get that there can be variability in among dentists in how aggressive/conservative their treatment plans are, but that contrast of opinion is unsettling. I don’t know that I can come to the conclusion that the 1st dentist was driven primarily by financial gain, but it certainly makes you question your trust.
