I flew to Tokyo, took the bullet train to Nagoya where I slept for a few hours, then got up and started the trek to Mt. Fuji. It was 28 hours door-to-door by the time I got back to the hotel in Nagoya (where I was working). Originally a large group from the office was going to go together, but one by one they all chickened out, so I soloed it.
I had had the flu the week before going to Japan and was still iffy on eating... so I hiked through the night, and summitted without eating anything before going. I arrived at the top at 2:02 am... the sunrise happened at 4:56 am IIRC.
