Continued presence in a country you can renounce or leave is (legally) a constructive waiver of this claimed “privilege” that you never really had. Among other privileges and rights, the Fifth amendment promises that our property won’t be taken by the govt without due process…in exchange for supporting that gov’t. This is largely done via taxes. Notwithstanding other flaws in our existing gov’t, property taxes—and the privileges they provide—still support the same constitutional principles it always has. Those principles haven’t been abandoned which is precisely why the gov’t continues to collect those taxes.
