Keba is a role player, but a great one. He's excellent in the pick and roll and a far more dangerous slasher than Fous. He's got a ton of defensive value as a rim protector and help side defender. Not to mention Keba's toughness and potential to be an enforcer.

For a team like BYU that has plenty of playmaking on the offensive end, what we really need are guys who can facilitate without the ball in their hands and impact the game in other ways. For a team like Utah that lacked some of that, a guy like Keba is a lot less impactful. In fact, for a team like Utah, a player like Fous who can create his own offense may have been better.

So that's the reason for the excitement. But if there's been a whole lot of "Keba is a budding superstar" posts, I haven't seen them. In fact, I wouldn't say there's really been much excitement for Keba compared to Demin, or Catchings, or even Crawford. Some of that is probably tied to Keba's lack of a TP rating (not sure where you got an 89). Heck, there seems to be more fanfare for Mboup than I remember for Keba.

However, there are a lot of posters who are projecting Keba as the starter and some CBers really don't like that. I think the idea of relegating Fous to the bench rubs a lot of fans the wrong way, especially the more casual ones. So I wouldn't be surprised if some of the "counter-culture", so to speak, is that Keba is overrated or Fous is underrated or both. In reality, I think it's just that Fous' skillset doesn't pair nearly as well with our starting lineup.

But regardless of all of that, you (krindor) are usually a pretty reasonable poster. You're more inclined to give more realistic or even pessimistic takes, generally backed by data and/or a good argument. But the thing is, I remember when you used to post as a Ute fan. And I don't know exactly where your allegiance or biases lie ATM, but I would guess you have some bias. So when it comes to pessimistic takes about the value of a former Utah player, I'm going to take your opinion with a grain of salt.
