Whittingham is 100% correct...
Nick Saban talks about this in this book... he spoke about several different things going wrong at Alabama when he arrived and how he had to fix it, and how the biggest fix and focus was about recruiting and how he got every person at the school, from AD down to the kitchen staff and janitors, how everyone that works for the school would be held accountable for recruiting...
He starts off talking about the issues with the previous coaching staff recruiting and I swear he is talking about Kalani.
