Very few win consistently with inferior talent.
There have been effective “system coaches” who do more with less via mastery of an often unique scheme, but it’s rare to see those teams win more than occasionally vs. elite competition if elite recruiting doesn’t eventually become a thing for them. Nebraska had both in the 90’s and dominated.
It’s tough to be so much better with technique, game prep, etc. that your guys outperform the bigger/faster/stronger opposition repeatedly. Turns out said competition is also works out, does drills, wants to improve their game and has coaches who work round the clock preparing to beat you.
