McMahon set what, 70+ NCAA records? That's just insane. He was the best at BYU
Imo, by a long shot. Young had a better pro career due to injury and circumstance - but McMahon was just incredible. Very athletic and super smart with incredible feel for where the opening was in the defenses. I loved watching him.

McMahon was amazing. Teams would run different defenses to try to stop him ... drop 9, rush 2 then rush 9, drop 2.

I don’t think any of us that were around then exclude Jim from the 80s greats. He was a superb QB and a good punter.
