BYU in LaVell's final 7-8 years really dropped the ball for the most part, recruiting-wise. MAFU might've acted pretty deviously w his counter-BYU recruiting — but really, we did basically nothing to challenge his narrative. Our coaches weren't getting out to the homes of the families with anywhere near the same amount of energy & interaction as he & his staff.
Should we really have been outdone there by an outsider like we were?
I'm still pee'd we didn't put up a worthy fight on that front. 30 years later I'm still pee'd.
