You say to a kid that young "hey, we'll do whatever you want. I'm not going to push you into anything." But then you sign him up for a league or a team or whatever that he wanted but then, at some point, maybe becomes burt out. It's easy to say "you gotta stick to your commitment" and continue to burn them out.
Adding a workout/skills routine that you can control the pace of makes more sense in a lot of ways.
