I'm not a dog fan, but I've had a Yorkshire Terrier for a year and a half
He's tiny, so he doesn't get in the way. He weighs between 8 and 9 pounds.
Yorkies don't have fur, but rather very human-like hair. They shed at about the same rate as a human. I don't recall ever seeing discarded dog hair anywhere in my house except for when bathing him.
My son and I normally have allergic reactions to cat and dog fur. That's not an issue with our Yorkie.
