BYU Football will always have a hard time competing at the highest level.
- The roster for players & coaches for football is huge in comparison to basketball.
- The religious undertones at BYU are more of a natural barrier with the volume and player/coach preceptions for football recruiting.
- The competitive landscape for NCAA basketball is much more broad in number of teams and much more obtainable for a school like BYU.
- The talent base for Basketball has become much more international than football.

Certainly BYU football has a hard earned reputation of being competitive over the years despite these challanges...and will continue to find and feature great players...but the sad reality is that being competitive in football will always be a bigger lift than being competitive in basketball.
