I think you're missing the point.

We (BYU) never won a WCC championship over a period of more than a decade in that league. Talking about how we would clearly win it this year seems trite. I agree based on the small sample of games we have so far including common opponents that BYU would be the favorite to win it this year at this point, but who knows what SMU and Gonzaga will look like by the middle of conference play?
