Field surface temps for September high school football games can get above 150 degrees.  That's the biggest downside I've seen in sunny climates is how much the older fibers absorbed UV and heated so dramatically. Glad they're finding cooler alternatives. Hopefully we'll see a combination of cooler fibers and the more natural cork/clay/sand you mentioned eventually.
