I think house affordability index is a relevant statistic.
That shows home affordability in the 1980’s wasn’t much different than today. Home affordability isn’t static and only a trending worse statistic.

Anecdotal evidence is silly to me and we don’t know what the future holds. Yes. It is tough now and it has been just as tough in the past during periods of time. Utah had dirt cheap housing in the 70’s because no one wanted to live there. There are still places like that where no one wants to live right now and those homes are available.

what I am disagreeing with is that housing is less affordable now than ever in history.
