This is very uncharacteristic of BYU, historically speaking, but moving Chaz Ah You to LB tells me that we are having issues at LB. It isn't just that we lost a great player in Pili, it's that the rest of the crew (with the exception of Wilgar), is not very good...or at least aren't playing very good. Usually, we are loaded with strong LB's, but after seeing our LB's completely vacate gaps and/or miss tackles in the last several games, I'm beginning to think this is a big reason for some of our defensive struggles, particularly against the run.
For those really watching, we aren't being run all over because we aren't committing enough players to the LOS, it's because the players we have in the box are missing assignments or getting blocked out of the gaps. These are LB's. Moving Ah You to LB mid season shows a lack of confidence by the coaches in the remaining guys, and the tape kinda shows you why. We're going to need to really address that position group, along with D line, in the near future.
